Ministry of Public Works Instructs Staff to Perform Duties With More Efficiency and Transparency

PHNOM PENH: The Director General of the General Department of Land Transport as well as Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Chhuon Vorn, on Thursday, led a relevant working group to inspect the public service of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport with the purpose of this inspection to disseminate the people a clear understanding of the Ministry's effective and transparent provision of public services, to avoid unofficial expenditures in accordance with the high-ranking recommendations of the Senior Minister, and especially to guide service providers to perform their duties.

The working group has inspected that working performance is more effective than before, while people still need to receive faster public services in the field of land transport, especially after Prime Minister Hun Sen announced the reopening of the country in all areas, from 1 November 2021 onward.

Addressing the media, the Director General highlighted the Senior Minister's initiative to set up public service centers in supermarkets and public places and a long-term public service automation system to promote efficient service delivery, transparency and no informal costs.

He stressed the importance of setting up another public service automation system to support the delivery of public services in line with the current 4.0 generation of the Industrial Revolution, also known as the Digitalization and Improvement Project. It is also important to developed a new generation of vehicle technical inspection system, which is scheduled to be launched in the near future for the people do not have to fill out the form themselves, just take the credit card to a partner bank and type the vehicle data information as well as the payment and receipt to the checkpoint.

In addition, Chhuon Vorn also informed the Ministry has tried to provide information by sending SMS to the people who own the vehicle to tell that his vehicle is about to expire and to inspect the vehicle technical specifications before the expiration date. The Ministry has also asked people to stop using informal services, which leads to loss of money.

The inspection program was conducted on some public service centers, including heavy vehicle driving training center, Aeon Mall 1 and Aeon 2, Chip Mon Noral Mall, Vehicle Technical Inspection Center in Boeung Baitong and Russey Keo.
